Whooah, livin' on a prayer...

Wait, scratch that. I’m the reason Obama won.

Oh, yeah. I’m pulling the Faith Card. I so helped Obama win. Because I PRAYED LIKE HECK that Obama would win and I wouldn’t have to move to Canada after a McCain win. *shudders* And you can’t fight the power of prayer. That’s right, I’m going to spend the rest of this week being RIGHTEOUS.

Anyway.

As I sit here watching CNN/ABC News/NBC/WGN and read Twitter/AP/other blogs, I feel my cold-as-ice and almost-invisible heart warming up a fraction. Because I find myself emotional at not just a historic win, a symbolic moment in time, but at the fact that decent man who faced so much persecution for nearly two years was chosen against the status quo and given a chance to bring this country off its knees and to its feet.

And I’m also emotional because… I wasn’t alive for the New Deal, when FDR raised the country out of the depths of despair. I wasn’t around during the civil rights movement and I sure can’t say I was blessed enough to see our leaps in space, Einstein changing the very concept of thought. But I can at least say I was around when America finally nominated a minority president, but more importantly, we finally nominated someone with more than half a brain. Welcome, Obama. I’m praying for you.
