On Tuesday night, a 17-year-old girl was raped about five minutes from my neighborhood; everyone’s in uproar. How could the T.J Grinders where she worked allow a young girl to work alone at night?
If you’re unfamiliar with the story, the girl noticed a strange man watching her and then texted her male friend about it. Later, he came back and watched her through the window and she, being thoroughly creeped out and still working alone, contacted her friend again, who said he’d be there in five minutes. When he got there, no one was in the store and it was some time before the girl showed up at her home, after she’d been abducted and assaulted.
Also, she goes to school with my kid sister, who now is understandably freaked out. Is this going to start a whole trend where high school girls rush home once the sun sets? I doubt it, but I wouldn’t put it past overprotective parents to introduce the idea.
Meanwhile, the cops are still trying to find out what the offender looked like. So on top of being moronic bosses, T.J Grinders doesn’t have security cameras?
